Greetings

Esteemed Members
of the Korean Association of Internal Medicine, Hyun-Jae Kang, MD, PhD.

Since its founding in December 1945, the Korean Association of Internal Medicine (KAIM) has dedicated the past 80 years to advancing internal medicine-the core discipline of Korean medical science-and to promoting the health and well-being of the public.

Today, we stand at a pivotal moment. We are emerging from the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and navigating the tensions that have arisen between the medical community and policymakers. At the same time, we face a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape shaped by the growing responsibilities of the medical profession and the remarkable progress of artificial intelligence and medical technology.

As our population ages and medical innovation accelerates, the role of internists has never been more essential. Yet it has also become increasingly difficult to uphold our pride as physicians who safeguard essential medical services and to cultivate the next generation of dedicated clinicians.

Our Association will confront these realities with resolve and continue to make steady, thoughtful efforts to address the challenges before us.

We are committed to strengthening and refining the training system so that future generations receive structured, high-quality education in internal medicine. We will work to redefine the role and status of teaching physicians and to foster an environment in which internists can maintain their pride, professionalism, and dedication to delivering the highest standards of patient care.

We will also intensify our support for academic research that advances the field of internal medicine, and we will continue to listen closely to our members, enhance communication, and expand international academic exchanges to elevate the global standing of Korean internal medicine.

I sincerely thank all our members for their unwavering commitment to advancing internal medicine and improving public health, and I look forward to your continued support and engagement.
